Miss McNichol and Mrs Huntbach

Please click here to see our wonderful learning on the blog! Reception is a very exciting year and we have lots of fun in our learning!

We aim to keep you as updated as possible about your child's learning and their progress. Please see the weekly letters at the bottom of this class page.

Overview of Reception

Reception children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in their learning. The EYFS is a framework which outlines children's early development. Learning opportunities are provided to help children develop across the seven areas of learning. These seven areas are:

1. Personal, Social and Emotional Development
2. Physical Development
3. Communication and Language

4. Literacy
5. Mathematics
6. Understanding the World
7. Expressive Arts and Design

Our learning environment is organised into different areas to support learning for children in our class. Our indoor and outdoor areas allow children the opportunity to access many resources and activities to build on their experiences. Children have daily access to the indoor and outdoor areas.
To support Reception children, they will have opportunities to work with different people throughout the day. At times children will work with an adult to support specific skills. This may be completed individually, in pairs or as a small group.

Please remember to check our blog regularly to stay up to date with all of our hard work and exciting events!
Your child's Special Books will also be sent home every weekend and over holidays which you are able to add to.

Please find useful guides to support children's development in curriculum areas such as for phonics, writing and maths. We hope you find these useful!

We send out weekly learning letters on a Friday. These go into your child's book bags. We also upload them to this section of our class page.
The letters contain information about what we have been learning in class during the week, as well as ideas for how you can support and extend this learning at home. We also aim to provide information about upcoming events and key notices. We aim to try and keep you as up to date as possible about your child's learning.

Please also view your child's Special Books each weekend and return them back to school every Monday. We hope you enjoy this 2-way process of seeing and sharing your child's development in their Reception Year. We love to see your entries into the book! The children often choose to share their learning in their books with their peers during the school week. It is fantastic to see such enthusiasm for learning!

Many thanks,

Miss McNichol and Mrs Huntbach
