Teacher: Miss Tomlinson
Teaching Assistant: Miss Cornes
Volunteer: Mrs Taylor
In Sapphire class we have Miss Tomlinson (teacher) and Mrs Cornes (Teaching Assistant).
We are both here to help the children learn and be the absolute best that they can be.
Welcome back to Sound and District Primary School. We hope you’ve had a fantastic break and are ready for a brand-new year.
During the autumn term, we have lots of exciting activities planned. Why not take a look at our topic web to see what we are going to be getting up to?
Homework will be given out on a Friday and will be expected to be handed back in on a Wednesday. The children will be given one piece of maths and one piece of English homework each week as well as their weekly spellings.
Children will be expected to read daily at home either with an adult or independently. It would be great if their diary could be signed by whoever they read with – this could be a sibling – so that we can see when they are reading and how regularly. There will be house points up for grabs for children reading regularly and even extra points for reading every day!
Our topic this half-term is ‘I am a warrior!’ We will be learning all about the Romans and will be exploring life as a roman warrior. We aim to explore the types of settlements used by the romans, how the land was used, how the romans traded and how the roman empire has impacted Britain today.
At sound, we always welcome volunteers to come in and read with the children, work alongside the class or even volunteer for clubs or special activities such as art week. If this is of interest to you, don’t hesitate to speak to the office or the class teacher and they will point you in the right direction.
Thank you all so much for your continued support and I look forward to a fantastic year with Sapphire class!
